Also, when using connections in hotels and other places, one might like to have more protection on your communication.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.freecap.ru\/eng\/\">Freecap<\/a> can be used to provide more protection for other programs. Freecap can launch a program and reroute connections through a SOCK server (as mentioned in this <a title=\"Privacy and internet communication\" href=\"http:\/\/saisa.eu\/blogs\/Guidance\/?p=14\">blog<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>For example, an email notifier tool &#8220;POP Peeper&#8221; does not have SOCKS capability. Freecap can be used to reroute the communication over secured ssh connection. The configuration is defined in menu File-&gt;Settings<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/saisa.eu\/blogs\/Guidance\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/freecap-proxysettings.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" height=\"470\" alt=\"Freecap-proxysettings\" src=\"http:\/\/saisa.eu\/blogs\/Guidance\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/freecap-proxysettings-small.png\" width=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The localhost with port 8080 is the ssh tunnel starting point using putty as SOCK server (see <a title=\"Privacy and internet communication\" href=\"http:\/\/saisa.eu\/blogs\/Guidance\/?p=14\">blog<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>First, in Freecap, a program profile need to be created for POP Peeper (see below).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" height=\"283\" alt=\"Freecap-profile-for-POPpeeper\" src=\"http:\/\/saisa.eu\/blogs\/Guidance\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/freecap-profile-for-poppeeper.png\" width=\"461\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After which, the program is visible in the main window.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" height=\"336\" alt=\"Freecap-with-POPpeeper\" src=\"http:\/\/saisa.eu\/blogs\/Guidance\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/freecap-with-poppeeper.png\" width=\"374\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Before launching POP Peeper, remember to open &amp; create the ssh tunnel first.<\/p>\n<p>Freecap has also a portable version available.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When travelling, it is still very often that your wireless connection is not using protection.
