ETSI Security Whitepaper 2012
ETSI has published new revision of their security whitepaper .
ETSI in Wikipedia: The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is an independent, non-profit, standardization organization in the telecommunications industry in Europe, with worldwide projection. ETSI has been successful in standardizing the Low Power Radio, Short Range Device, GSM cell phone system and the TETRA professional mobile radio system.
ETSI itself describes: The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) produces globally-applicable standards for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), including fixed, mobile, radio, converged, broadcast and internet technologies. We are officially recognized by the European Union as a European Standards Organization.
Their whitepaper is good source of information for their security related work.
This White Paper outlines ETSI’s work in each of the security-related fields. A complete list of the relevant publications for each field is included at the end of this document.

ScrapBook, Tool for online research
ScrapBook is one of the Firefox plugins. It is a valuable tool for everyone who is searching for information via internet. It can help to save important pages for offline reading, and manage your offline collections.
Here below is an example when searching for subject privacy, starting from google search engine. With ScrapBook one can nicely categorize/order your findings (see left panel).
The search lead to interesting findings on Information Security and recent news on privacy on EU. The subsequent searches will then be on those, and therefore I created folder ready for them…
Tip: Multiple Offline locations
One can store the offline content in any folder. The Multi-ScrapBook option is a good choise for this. First activate it via “ScrapBook Options” menu. After that you get a new “Multi-ScrapBook” button to the ScrapBook menu.
By using Manage menu option within Multi-ScrapBook button, one can create several offline content locations.
Tip: Create one single MAFF file
ScrapBook has “extensions”. ScrapBook MAFF Creator converts ScrapBook into one single file (MAFF). After installation, a new menu option “Create MAF” is available.
Note , this tool did not work as I would expect in my environment. I had problems when opening MAFF file. It opened all the pages as tabs, and some pages had problems; the page was not visible. In the ScrapBook MAFF Creator help (chrome://sbmaf/locale/hints.html), it states that one would need to create HTML file via “Output as HTML” ScrapBook menu, and then use that as a base. However, I did not get that to work yet.

gStrings, Android tool for verifying tuning of a piano
“gStrings Free” is good basic tool for verifying if your piano is in tune.
I have used for both acoustic and digital pianos. It automatically can recognize the notes, and displays the frequency as well (see below).

PDFsam, Tool for splitting and merging PDF files
PDFsam is a good basic tool for manipulating pdf files. It can merge, split and rotate pages. Update 2.9.2013, please see also PDFill PDF Tools, which contains additional features (different licensing).

WinCDEmu, Tool for using CDs and DVDs virtually (via image file)
WinCDEmu is a good tool for one purpose; To be able to mound and use ISO files (CD/DVD/BD images).
After installation, there is a new right mouse button menu option “Select drive letter & mount”. First select the ISO file, and choose mount option, then a popup window asks for mouting details, and that’s it!
One can access the settings via “..” button.
After usage, select the drive (V:), and choose “Eject” from the right mouse menu.
